Doorway to Memories

Doorway to Memories

6x8in  oil on canvas panel   ON HOLD

This was painted entirely from memory. ..happy memories.

Artist Note.

This was painted on top of yesterday's demo after the rose and leaves
had been lifted out using the shaper.
Some of the original marks are still there. After I had lifted off my demo stuff
I turned it around in every direction to see if I could "see" a shape or color
which interested me. This part below - minus the color of the rose, did.

Yesterday's fence marks turned on the side
became my steps. The neat shapes and colors
next to them were left untouched as part of the wall.
Click on the painting above to enlarge it and
you will see them.
The rose lightly stained the canvas, but the pink is
lovely peeking out here and there.

If you have a painting you are not satisfied with, while still wet, take the shaper
and remove the paint in different directions, wiping the shaper in-between.
Turn your support to see if your imagination picks up a landscape, still life, figure...anything at all.
It keeps the fun in painting.

  5. The thing that amazes me about your paintings is that wonderful impressionistic style you have...when you look closely at the work..it's a pink line there, a yellow smudge there...yet it all fits together so clearly and precisely as the image. Did that make sense? Loving that blue door again : )

    1. Thanks for looking closely. I do the same to your work too. I find you have a similar surface with broken colors. Nothing smooth! I do appreciate your support and love your blog.
