A Little Watercolor

A Little Watercolor

6x6in watercolor on Arches   SOLD

A quick little study of three Roman glass vessels, painted for a friend
who likes my watercolors more than my oils.
These are very old pieces and covered with a mica type film - which I find beautiful.

My lovely daughter is moving to another state with her job. (sob!) Tonight
is our last night together for quite a while so it will be special.
We will miss her and her companion, Eric. They follow my blog so
I am wishing them a safe journey and wonderful new adventures.

    1. Thank you, Hilda.
Thanks also for sending my daughter luck for her new job. We are very proud of her, but she is a lot of fun so there will be a void.

  2. I like how every aspect of the painting surface, including the background, speaks to the translucent and rich surfaces of the vessels. And how the contrast of the powerful background colors reinforce the delicacy of the glass. Really nice image...

    1. Hi Rita - thanks so much for lovely complement.
Skype is something I treasure as my young grandchildren live far away.

  7. Love the film covering and the texture you have. Enjoy your daughter tonight. That's the hardest thing for me about living abroad with my (adult)kids being state side- I don't get to see them as often as I'd like.

    1. The film covering stops the ability to see through and it was hard to still make it look like glass - so I thank you!

At least I will be able to drive eight hours to see my daughter whereas you have to fly more than that to see your kids. I bet they love to visit you though, I remember I found the light magical on Malta.

  11. Julie, Your watercolor is as unique as your oils. Very interesting treatment.

Children are the biggest joy and it hurts so much to see them go off on their own.....and yet we are so proud to see them become independent.

  12. Great painting. You handle watercolors beautifully. And daughters.......I wish her well and know how much you will miss her. Think how much you can paint as hubby drives for 8 hours!
