HOME! - day 2 - 30 Day Challenge

Home!
8x8in watercolor on paper NFS
A study for future painting.

This is a new nest a friend gave me.
(The eggs were not in it.)
I could paint nests for a week and be happy.
I marvel at the intricate weaving of twigs and
other materials.
This one was lined at the bottom
with tiny, fluffy feathers
Their very own therapedic topper!

  9. Julie, if you were teaching a master class in painting nests and feathers, I would hop on a plane and fly across the world to be in it! I am sooo excited you are doing the 30 challenge, between my workshop schedule and exhibition commitments I couldn't join in this time. Thanks for the Yupo tips, I haven't had anything to post that I would want any one to see yet! but I am working on it :)

  12. This is very detailed for a sketch, just lovely! One of my facebook friends mother leaves out some of her sewing debris for the birds, she finds the most glorious nests in her garden, a bit of lurex here and maybe a bit of pink lace there!x

  14. Your nests have always something extraordinary to see ...they lead to think so many thoughts ... every branch that intersects makes me think of the days of our life, the infinite patience with which the time shape us and we mold our time.
The beginning and end of life is inside this nest as a powerful symbol of hope.
This painting goes straight to the heart.

  19. Your watercolor works (as well as your oils) continue to amaze me...but especially these nests! Especially love the wonderful balance of clarity around the focal point...vs. the much looser 'suggested' surrounds....each part supporting the 'whole composition' - these birdies really sing!

  20. I love the way the sharp focal point bleeds into abstraction. Wonderful!

  21. I just discovered your blog thanks to Daily Painting website and I am amazed by all that you do. These watercolors and paintings are beautiful! I love it. I am French and I live in the southwest of France and I do not speak English well, forgive me. Congratulations for your great talent

  23. One of my favorites, Julie. Love the "white" spaces or those left with no images...just tints or shades. Makes the subject seem even more delicate.

  24. I love this palette! This is so beautiful! I love the spill at the bottom, the white... the sky. What a wonderfully messy nest!
