Tea for Two
Tea for Two
6x6in oil on canvas $100.
Celebrating ending the 30 in 30 day challenge
with a pot of tea with my hubby.
I have two new red mugs and was excited because
they matched the teapot, but the handles are small
and high up which makes them uncomfortable to hold.
Guess they will be for painting and not to use.
Artist Note.
First time ever painting a cupcake!
My Artbyte video should be released at any time by Daily Paintworks.
Nervous in case no one likes it.

Dear Julie I understand a little bit of nervousness about a new thing!
ReplyDeleteBut you work so well that your video will be successful!
I look forward.
Lovely joyful red tea!
Thanks Rita - did you get me email regarding the finished painting of Beatrice?
DeleteLove this Julie, red in a painting always work. We have mugs made locally that we can't use as our fingers are burnt trying to hold them!
ReplyDeleteGood to know other mugs are made just for looks. Thanks for sharing that bit of info, Margaret.
DeleteLove your wonderful tulips. You captured so much movement.
Lovely red diagonal. And I thought I would see flowers today. Love the cupcake. And I know I will love the art byte. Working on two evolving pieces........
ReplyDeleteYou know me well, Helen. I did go looking for flowers but none struck my fancy. Wish we had a Trader Joes.
DeleteYou are working on not one, but "two" of those ongoing paintings? Yikes, You must be having a blast to do two. When are we going to see them?
Powerful red color really packs a punch. I love this painting. I love tea too and try many different loose tea leaves. Tea is so soothing.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to posting, Coleen. I missed you. I wish you happy days with your new blog on Fiber art. Your bowls were beautiful.
DeleteI've been waiting, waiting, waiting for this ArtByte. Not like it? This is like saying "here is a chocolate cupcake, you might not like its!" No such thing Julie. I'll keep watching for it. Congratulations and good luck on the video even though you won't need it. OK, I've written way too much.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great affirming comment. Thanks Blanche. Maybe I should not have said I was nervous and try to pretend I found it easy. Ha! Love what you said about making mistakes on your post. I agree completely with your viewpoint.
DeleteLove your pear. The texture and colors are lovely.
This is a fabulous painting. Great end to a great exercise and a wonderful accomplishment too. I love how some of the objects like the mug lie partly outside the frame. Makes one want to peep into the "window" and take a look at everything. Great movement.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Hi - good to hear from you and thank you.
DeleteYour timepiece painting has a special timeless quality. (pun intended!)
I recognize that teapot, I see the cupcake an love it. A very nice composition with bold colors, well done.
ReplyDeleteThank Roger. Glad you like my cupcake. Never ever thought I would paint one as I do not buy them...but hubby apparently does when he wants to celebrate seeing more of his wonderful and amazing wife. (could not resist as he reads my blog)
DeleteThere is really nothing missing here , a perfect tea for two time :-) Love all the reds , so striking , a truly beautiful setting. xx
ReplyDeleteYou are great and I do appreciate your visits Jane. Your snow paintings were a great idea. Love it.
DeleteGreat! Love the red pot and mugs. Didi you use a palette knife? I'm new to your blog, I look forward to seeing more. Do you ever teach in Cloudcroft?
ReplyDeleteHi Diane - welcome. I use a mixture of brush and knife.
DeleteI teach here in Las Cruces and not in Cloudcroft. I have been there and it is lovely and cool in the summer.
Oh, Julie - this is just lovely. I'm SO impressed with your work. It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sue and may I say I loved your use of white on your series of flowers. I agree it can be a hard color to use.
ReplyDeletePerfect tea for a perfect artist... Oh, I am sure your video will be a super duper hit. Look fwd to it!
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous red! My eyes found the cupcake immediately...what does that say about me??? LOL

Are you kidding Julie!!! "No one will like it"!!!!! If everyone is as excited as I am, you have NO WORRIES!! I have my little tool and have no clue how to use it! That plus staring endlessly at your paintings each day almost makes me giddy with anticipation!!! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!
ReplyDeleteJust went through your 30 days—wow! So many beautiful paintings. "Tea for Two" is so rich and lush and fresh and I always marvel at your paint handling and ability to make objects come alive. Also love your "Candy Mints" —they look so alive, like they will dance off the panel.
ReplyDeleteDon't be silly. Everyone will love your Art Byte. Just wait and see!

ReplyDeleteI love that red teapot. What a great way to celebrate the end of the challenge. Now you know there no limits to what you can paint. How wonderful is that? I am also one of those anxiously waiting for your video! Right now, I'm just using my little tool to wipe places off & start over.
ReplyDeleteThere is only one word I can think of for this painting - voluptuous! The color, the texture, the composition - all voluptuous!
ReplyDeleteWow, Julie! What luscious reds! The cupcake is fabulous too. There is no end to your talent. You are so humble; I think you'll be surprised at te response to your imminent Artbyte - I'm loving it already and it's not even published yet - LOL!! Sharon.
ReplyDeleteOoh! Just seen it, getting my money out!
ReplyDeleteI just watched your Fracturing video Art Byte and enjoyed it SO much!! I didn't know you had that marvelous accent. I am going to experiment with your technique. I have a color shaper that might work for the squeegee hopefully. I love the way you paint. It's animated and alive! Thank you for doing the video. Please do more.
ReplyDeleteWell, Julie, you have a lot of fans...I am one of them! I have been waiting for your art byte and I promise to "take it". I know everyone will like it--! Your red teapot and cups are beautiful. What I like so much about your work is how well the items are drafted...but you don't have hard edges. Your paintings are "dreamy".
