  4. What a delight. I love the diagonal (top left to bottom right), I love the way the background and foreground contrast yet compliment each other. Love the 'yellows' of the petals and the dashed of 'purple' in the background ... but ... what I really love are the 'whites' and highlights on the inside of the bowl, as if spotlighted. Genius!

    In answewr to your question:
I am not dropping painting or the usual blog - but I did want to separate my P & I work in a gallery blog, as I will with a Painting
gallery blog. This way they are uncluttered by my meanderings through boats, 'planes and my darling great-grandchildren: you know how I ramble!

    1. You are wonderful at making an artist feel good about their painting. Thanks for such supportive words, John.
I am very pleased you are not dropping your usual painting blog. I really enjoy the versatility you let us enjoy. The pen and ink work you do has a standard of excellence which blows me away. It deserves its own focus.

  7. This looks stunning on my monitor. What a captivating composition, and the combination of that blue bowl with the rich orange-and-yellows is a real love-match! I especially admire how you've pulled colors into the background. Your backgrounds are always so interesting -- filled with color and texture, yet they never overpower the subject. And, gosh, I notice how your paintings sell almost as soon as you place the final brushstroke -- no surprise, of course.

    1. Neat how we both used the same color harmony in our paintings. Happy you like the background. I had a teacher at school who told me to make my backgrounds as interesting as the subject - but not take over from it. It was harder to do than anything else.
I am just plain lucky that they sell - I do have some that have not so please do not think it is everything!

    1. Yellow is cheerful isn't it? I remember our kitchen walls painted a lovely butter yellow when I lived in England. Manchester had many gray days so it always looked cheerful.
I really enjoyed seeing your many letters for your logo.

    2. thank you about the letters :)

I'm shocked it was paint, most people around here use wallpaper

    3. Yes..wallpaper was everywhere else. Not only that - one wall would have a different pattern from the other three! The reason it was paint in the kitchen is the wallpaper would not stick. We would watch it bubble underneath and curl at the edges from the damp underneath. That part of the house was VERY old! brrrr.

    4. yellow would prob help make you think it was a warmish place ;)

I hate wallpaper. Too much work for me, can't be bothered having to strip it lol paint is easier

  12. Beautiful composition and color! That curved shadow in the bowl sweeps your eyes right up to the top sunflower and then around to the others. Well done!

    1. Hi Jane I could say exactly the same about your plate of fruit. The one highlight on the cherry gives the whole painting an extra strength. Highlights all over the place sometimes detract.
