  2. I really like the palette, Julie. Those warm yellows and ochres offset by cool purples and greys -- it has a lovely serenity.

  3. For some reason, I have an affinity for winter snow scenes and this one just vibrates with energy and emotion - possibly due to your memories of this gorgeous place!

  12. I too am impressed you painted these by memory and you painted them so beautifully. I love aspen trees. I can never tell the difference between them and birch though.

    1. I learned that the aspen has "eyes" or inverted V's on the trunk and the birch has lines. If you notice where the branches come out you see the eye shape. The bark and colors are different too but the eyes have it!!
      Love your new post with the sketches and good luck with your first Colorado show. Classy place!
