Happy New Year!

 Mockingbird Pride
12"x12"

Artist Note

I am still working on this painting.
Taking my time to think it out.
Tweak or not to tweak...
that is the question!

As the sun sets on
2020
I  want to thank you
for the support you gave me and my art
during this weird year.
It has meant so much.

My painting habits have changed
due to being at home with a
dear hubby - who is delighted to have
me around due to him being able to enjoy
regular meals served on time.
(I do not kid myself it is
due to my scintillating personality!)

I have always worked and been a do-er
so learning to be idle has been quite a feat.
I miss teaching and the wonderful artists
I was around. BUT... I am grateful to be healthy
and in a position where I can stay safe and
thanking heavens for Walmart grocery pick-up.
I am also becoming a ping pong player!

Let me know how YOU have adapted
to the new routines
with any helpful hints you may have.

I want to wish you all
a much better new year than this last
one has probably been.

May 2021 Bless YOU with
Health, Joy and Peace

  3. Happy New Year to you and hubby!!! It has been a crazy year and here we are in 2021!!!! Hopefully a happy and HEALTHY one for all.
The subtle color and texture is truly beautiful in this painting Julie! You never disappoint us with your incredible talent. I miss going to my workshops. Life has certainly changed... I try to paint everyday even for an hour. My husband is still working at the airlines so i enjoy my time but being with people and painting together is what I miss more than anything. As you know, my dog Cali died in January... she was so sweet and kept me company.... I found myself looking at shelters so I can fill the hole in my heart. And I found my little Bambi. She keeps me busy... she loves her walks and she loves to sit with me while I paint.... here’s to a wonderful year Julie...and SO grateful for our virtual friendship!!! Sending you a hug....

    1. Yes...we have been blogging friends for many years now Hilda. After time, it gets to feel like a genuine "family." Our hearts hurting after both losing a beloved pet is tie that binds. Our love of art is another. Stay safe and enjoy what we have until life starts up again. Catch this powerful HUG!

  4. I hope you have a great year of painting in 2021 and can get back to teaching soon. Your painting is beautiful as it is, but I understand that when it doesn't seem quite finished you must do a little more (and not too much). Stay well and safe, and I look forward to seeing more of your inspiring work.

Painting for me is on a different schedule while I am with hubby but the easel is up and paint on the ready!

That looks like the group you taught had a lot of fun as well as turning out good work. Keep at it Sharon.

  7. Happy New Year Julie (&hubby) - you painting is coming along very well!!! My hubby is a wood-carver and actually made a Mockingbird tap handle for a friend's kegerator who lives in Texas (Mockingbird is the official bird of Texas). Glad you are holding on and painting away. I am going to get back to it today, in fact! Many cheers!

    1. Good to hear from you Teri and neat to hear that your hubby is an artist too. Mine just likes looking at art with no idea of anything but if he likes it or not!
I enjoyed reading your post and can see how the cropping helped. It is a very tranquil and beautiful landscape.

  8. The painting is lovely as I expect from you! But you are the loveliest person I have been privileged to know. Hugs to you and Jim. Try not to hit too many people with the ping pong ball even if they deserve it.

  9. You and your dear hubby have certainly weathered some changes, and Covid has overlaid all our lives with additional stress. In spite of it all, you appear to have kept a positive outlook and just calmly carried on, as the saying goes. I wish you all happiness in the coming year -- in fact, let's hope we all enjoy brighter days ahead. Like you, I'm striving to get back to painting more regularly; health issues have played havoc with our routine here as well. Cheers, my dear chum!😍🙋‍♀️

    1. Ha! calmly carried on...not exactly.. I have been paranoid over this covid virus because of my hubbys health issues. My protective instincts are in full bloom. He is a pollyanna in positivity and that does make for a happy life though. We cannot wait for the vaccine. It is amazing that one has been developed so quickly. sending warmest wishes for improved health and many happy painting days. I really enjoy seeing your Instagram posts.
