For The birds!

For The Birds

6x6in oil on canvas panel SOLD

Artist Note

I was sitting on the patio
at a local cafe
and one of these little guys
came right on up to me
and took food right
out of my hand.

Talk about socialized...
and a bit cheeky!

    1. Happy to hear it makes you smile.
I was thinking of you yesterday as I was "dissipating" my edges! Love your word. Can't wait to see what is next.

  2. Friendly for food!

You captured nicely the plumpness of their little bird forms. Always such lovely coloring too. The birds do get sort of up close and personal don't they? I have a story about a bird and my cinnamon roll while on vacation in Hawaii...:)

PS-I posted yesterday-I saw that you had mentioned it. Took me awhile this week:)

  3. Surely are plump and I know why...little robbers! Sweet ones though.
The latest painting from your water series is most likely my favorite so far. Cohesive and powerful it has a strong message on a worrisome issue. Well done!

    1. The whole situation with blogger changing the "friends connect" is an unfriendly customer service move by Google. I am grateful you are still viewing Lorraine.
Your new floral is a wonderul painting and it shows how different techniques can affect our paintings.

    1. Woww - really that close...I would love that/ I can sit and draw on the deck but the feeders are about 5 feet away.
I really enjoyed seeing your spring flowers peeking out, Sharon but the words had a positive message that I really liked.

  10. What a sweet painting, and how fun the little scamps were so bold! I really like the point of view you've selected, as well as how you used the contrast of sunlight and shadows for an appealing composition.

Glad you noticed the contrast...I needed the shadow for design strength.

    1. You have gulls where you live? Are you by the sea?
WE have a certain Ring Billed gulls winter in the El Paso area.
I see them in the fields. They are certainly not social in that setting.
I do remember sitting on the beach in California and they would swoop on down for food. Big and bold.
Loved seeing your sketch of the cassette. You amaze me.

    2. there are gulls everywhere lol we are about half an hour from the North sea, but 10 mins from a loch. About half an hour from the Tay, so surrounded by water and all kind of different types of gulls. you get the big Herring Gulls, and you don't want to mess with those big guys lol, they take your fries, they can have them
