Berry Picking - and other stuff

Berry Picking
13inx10in  Alcohol Ink on Yupo  SOLD

Artist Note
Painting a series allows an artist
to experiment freely with
different media. The Alcohol Inks
were a real adventure into
the unpredictable.
I enjoyed it.
I had 9 out of thirty paintings
done with the inks.

Below I am looking happy
that all the work was over
on the night of the opening.

My house became a real mess due
to a knee injury which
prevented easy access to the
steps to my studio.
Guest room
and dining room below.
The kitchen table was worse
so no pic of that!

Invaluable lack of complaining
and total support from hubby
earned him a few gold stars!

Life is getting back to normal.
Everything picked up and clean.
Daily painting has resumed.

  1. Black-berrying? Great painting - love it. I had to Google 'Yupo'. Great outcome with this alcohol ink isn't it? Have to put it on my growing 'To Do' list.

I bet you're glad to get your feet on the ground ... injured knee notwithstanding.

    1. The Yupo is a slippery surface and a lot of fun. All depends if you like to be in control.
My knee is quite simply a bit of a pest. Got a shot to tide me through the show but hafta go back to the orthopedic guy in early December.
I enjoyed reading about your boat. You are an impressive and talented man, John.

The knee will need attention when my busy life slows down!
I was hoping a shot would create a magical pain free zone. Alas, not completely. stiff upper lip and all that plus grateful I can walk!

    gros bisous

    1. Martinealison's translation...Hello dear friend,

At least it is certain that this room has a beautiful soul !! smile ...
However, I am sorry to hear that you were hurt. I hope you are better now.

Congratulations on preparations for the next exhibition. She will inspire many visitors.

Who would paint a crow? ... But, as my friend feathered, Leo, why not? I think you have beautifully capture the attitude of this moment berry tasting. The choice in the paint this red berry and green hues brings a nice contrast to the bird and alleges it a certain nobility.

      lots of love
The words you use are perfect and I smile as I read them. Thank you.
Love the post about your trip and the photos are wonderful.

    Crows are sharp (and intelligent)
One of the birds R K Laxman liked. His B & W doodles on crows are so true to life.

I imagine you are catching your breath at this point as things settle down! I still haven't tried the inks on Yupo, but you make it so intriguing that I'll have to try it very soon!

    1. Yes - catching my breath. Yesterday was the demo at the gallery and I felt the load getting lighter right after that. Only have to write the thank you notes to tuck behind the sold paintings and then I can get back to normal.
I think yupo may be a bit of a change for you but if you respond to whats happening I think you would really enjoy it. There are so many videos on youtube to watch and pick which method you like. Then you fool around finding which way is natural for yourself. I love the inks with it. A challenge1
