A classic - I love the suggestion of two squares at the top left, with the tip of the largest square touching the beak of the lowest dove ... it drew my eye from the beak upwards to the other doves
Thanks John, I enjoyed doing this one tremendously. I took my time and worked all over a little bit at a time. I love the richness of the interplay of colors. The photo is not quite accurate in that regard. I am looking forward to seeing your painting of Giselle. She has absolutely incredible eyes.
I am so happy you are trying the inks. Are you going to do your line work on top of the inks or under? Or maybe both? I cannot wait to see what you do. Hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving.
What a lovely thing to say. Thank YOU, Carol. Right back at you. Especially love your new painting of the bird over the ocean. Interesting about the colors isn't it? Glad to hear you share the process you went through to correct the colors. Good idea . On the one above the red is nowhere near as bright as it shows her. Because it was sold at my show I didn't have to worry about it, but it would have taken quite a bit of time to correct it.
Oh Julie!!! This is absolutely beautiful!! A definite winner!!!! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!!! And I thank you for being such a wonderful blogging friend....❤️
Thank you, dear Hilda. We have been blogging friends for quite a few years now haven't we! Hope your Thanksgiving is special. I am happy you like this painting. It is a personal favorite.
You are so gracious and encouraging to all your fellow artists, Dee. Thank you. And thank you for all the work you do to keep "Lets Paint New Mexcio" going. I really enjoyed your new post with fabulous paintings and stunning New Mexico photos and hope other artists visit it to enjoy too.
I enjoyed doing the abstracted background. How to get order our of loads of leaves...is difficult. Your oranges and flowers painting also has such beautiful colors and a special life to it. Thanks for the good wished, Jane.
I made the color transparent as much as possible and layered a lot to keep the luminous glow. Thanks for noticing, Lauren, and thank you so much for letting me know you liked it.
What a perfectly serene and lovely image, painted as only you could! Happiest Thanksgiving to you and your family, Julie, and warmest regards from your northern chum!
Hi Northern Chum - lol... I haven't used chum in eons! Sort of nice and comforting. I am glad to read you are recovering nicely from cataract surgery and even happier to see your beautiful apple painting.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful painting - it is perfect for Thanksgiving and celebration of family and all we have to be thankful for in this wonderful country of ours. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Julie.
Hi Jennifer, happy you like it. A personal fav. Hope you are feeling good. You sure keep up your scheduled drawing a day. I love them. Even the most ordinary object becomes a delight to the eyes!
Thank you so much, Helen. I think of Peace when I see a white dove. Your beautiful painting of the last roses of the season is rich and contemporary. I love the way you painted it.
I love the doves and that there are three of them which to me symbolizes so many meaningful triads. Hope your Thanksgiving was blessed with love and please know how much I appreciate your comments on my blog!
I agree - three is very symbolic. Happy to know you value triads too. It is always a pleasure to visit your blog. I admire your ability to simplify to the essence of your subject with fabulous use of color.
Thanks, Jean, both for the compliment and the wishes. I was interested seeing the male portrait done in watercolor and markers over white gouache...then in ink and watercolor. Both really good and different.
'Family Time' - some images just grab the viewer by the heart - and refuse to let go. Your play with that patch of red ... on a carpet of green-yellow-blue is well... I'll just have to bookmark your site. Kudos.
Hi Julie, wow I must have missed checking Blogger this day. I love it! Not surprised it's already sold. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Enjoy your day!
Hi Julie, I did try the alcohol inks and posted the first two on my blog. I'm having fun seeing what they do and how they react. Thanks for the inspiration.
