Flowers and Stripes
8"x6" oil on linen panel $150 SOLD
Artist Note.
I am always fascinated with stripes.
The hard part is fracturing them
so they are not hard and straight
but still look like stripes..
I was playing around with leaving
the natural linen color as a border.
It didnt work for my style.
Bummer!
There is a wonderful artist
who does this very effectivly.
Check him out - see link below.
Click on
one of his landscapes to enlarge
and see how effective it is.

A little aside for those who know
what is going on in my life.
The house was just appraised
on Tuesday by the VA. We have no idea
how long before we get the results.
Fingers crossed!

Your paintings always have a wonderful balance and beautiful color! I hope all works out well with the house.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joan. I value your lovely comment.
DeleteYep... ditto on the house!
Wow! So beautiful and inspiring Julie!
ReplyDeleteHi Mona - good to hear from you. I went right to your new card and admired all the creative and beautiful layers.
DeleteLove this Julie, it's a classic beauty, and I love stripes too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bruce. Congratulations on your Prickly Pear painting being a finalist. Its a wonderful painting.
DeleteThis is so refreshingly crisp and light that it brings springtime to mind -- a nice thought because it's still so wintery here! I really like the cool blues in the background and the clear glass vase. Lovely. (By the way, thanks for asking. Yes, I am painting, Julie, just not as much, or as frequently.)
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased to hear you are painting. It doesn't matter if it is not as much as long as you are still at it. Too talented to let it go.
DeleteHappy you like the painting and thanks for letting me know why.
gorgeous per usual! are you planning to move?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lavon.
DeleteYes...moving, but still in town. Downsizing in a major way!
Its a big change. I know it will be great for my hubby.
It is beautiful. GL on house. Try loose painters tape on edges of canvas for natural border. Some paint will go under and give you a ragged edge. Karen Rodgers
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, I did use the tape on this but when I took it off it was way too dorky for on a panel so I finished it off. I think the secret if to have a gallery wrap. Not cheap in Linen.
DeleteGood to hear from you\, Thanks.
Beautiful piece Julie!!! LOVE the stripes..
ReplyDeleteColors and light are amazing! Good luck with the house.... (hope you get this comment...lol)
Came thru just fine, my friend.
DeleteHappy you like stripes too.
Still have fingers crossed about the house. It willsll work out.
Hi Julie, it's lovely and it looks like you are enjoying the smaller sizes too. And just think how easy it will be to move all your art once the house is sold. A bonus. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWow! Such a powerful composition. The beautiful flowers against those diagonal stripes take me in and make my heart sing.
ReplyDeleteMine too. We both love some activity in on paintings dont we, Sharon?!!
Deletethe colours are very American :)
ReplyDeleteand hopefully you here back about the house sooner rather than later
Spluttering with laughter here, Jennifer. What is "very American? "I cant wait to hear this!
Deletenothing funny sadly, just colours most people think of when thinking of america :)
