Artist Note.
I really love this type of poppy
with the white next to
the dark center.
I painted it a while ago
keeping it close because I
really liked the touch of blue!
Personal Note
Many thanks for the wonderful
sharing of ideas and hints regarding
my vision needs
after cataract surgery.
Apparently, many of you have
experienced the issue.
I am having my other cataract
removed in the morning. YAY!
The first one has revealed
a crisp, bright new view
of the world
- amazing -
BUT
My brain has NOT co-operated
with the other eye which is
close-sighted so the monovision
is totally out
and "readers" will be needed.
One in every room!
BUT
another blogger has shared
what she has done
and it has me all excited.
I have to wait a couple of months
for the eyes to settle then
I will pass it on it it works!
Praying it all goes well dear Julie.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carol. It did - and I can SEE. Actually see the nuances of color. I am grateful!
DeleteDear Julie such a gorgeous painting. Those poppies just pop off the page. Was praying for you this morning. My sister in law was having her second eye done today too. Take care. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHope your sister-in-law is fine.
DeleteAll went well for me and I am thrilled with what I can see.
This painting looked brown to me just a month ago and yet I remembered I had used pinks and reds back when I did it.
Thanks for the prayers, my good friend.
Wishing you all the best to get through all the eye surgeries and recovery! It certainly hasn't affected your painting! They still are awesome as ever.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim - your painting in the American Watercolor Society show is truly outstanding and deserved the recognition it won.
DeleteThanks for the encouraging words. My colors have been difficult so I have been posting fewer paintings. This was painted about a year ago!
LOVE the poppies Julie!!! The blue is perfect....and I love the splashes of blues in the leaves... I wish you the best of luck with the surgery, my friend!!! Prayers going your way for a speedy recovery!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Hilda - thanks for the prayers. - I love the blue, too.
DeleteI am doing so well and love that I can see the nuances of color again.
good luck with the surgery :)
ReplyDeleteyour eyes do tend to adjust pretty quickly after a change like that, so you shouldn't have any big problems once the other surgery is done :)
great red poppies :) didn't know you got ones that were not a solid colour, will have to keep an eye out for some
You are right, Jennifer. I have no problems seeing and the colors are great. Readers are needed but maybe not too bad when I go back at the end of the month.
DeleteI think this poppy is a variant of the Danish poppy or the Pinnacle Oriental. Beautiful.
thanks :) will have to see if I can get them online, probably can but need more space for them lol
DeletePrayers going up for an excellent outcome and speedy recovery. The white definitely adds the pop to these poppies.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon. Yes, the white adds a lot. At first I thought they were anemones but nope - definitely a poppy!
DeleteI congratulate you for all your hard work in getting your online courses going. I admire what you have done very much.
I do believe you could paint beautifully if you were blindfolded! But I'm happy your eyes are being fixed, and I'll pray for continued success. This painting is lovely-I could almost touch the flowers in my mind.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debra, I LOVED your little robin and the story you shared.
DeleteThanks for the kind and complementary words regarding my work. I am beaming!
Wow! Poppies are so colorful anyway, but these form a beautiful cluster that really sizzles! I have never seen this flower with the white center. Really an attention-getter. Love the way the greens thread through the bouquet.
ReplyDeleteHello, Carol, I had not seen this poppy before, either, I have seen the Danish Poppy with a white cross in the center and presumed it was associated with that. Happy you like it.
DeletePainting more squirrels? Love the one you did.
Gorgeous poppies, and the hint of blue is just what it takes to make them pop . And that is what they do :-)
ReplyDeleteHello Jane - thanks for visiting and the nice comment.
DeleteI was just admiring your lovely painting, A day On The Beach.
Always a pleasure to visit.
Whoa.... Girl, you are a fabulous painter! You should do nothing else in this world buy sit and paint every single waking minute... your amazing!
ReplyDeleteLove your patriotic poppy!!! Glad the first surgery went well and I hope the second had the same results. Lots of luck!!!
ReplyDeletePoppies are always a winner, as you ably demonstrate. The touch of blue is magical and gives such a lift to an already lovely work.
ReplyDeleteWhen my old mum (long gone now) had her eyes 'done,' the first thing she said to my father was, "Oh, Jack, haven't you aged?"
If I've told this story before it really is, because I've aged!
