8"x 6" oil on Raymar panel $150. SOLD
This is part of an small adobe
house in the Upper valley area
of El Paso, Texas.
It is very old and once housed the
seasonal farm workers
for the large farm it is on.
It looks abandoned...
I guess machines
now do all the work .
Cats were everywhere!
They were very peaceful
and there was not a skinny one
to be seen.
There must be a treasure trove of
field mice around!
Those cats look cute but I am sure they are devastating local wildlife. But that is not your concern, Julie, when creating a painting, and the result is absolutely delightful.
ReplyDeleteI do understand about what happens and I see it in all life. Human and animal. From the hawk tearing the baby robins from the nest , humming bird spearing its beak right through another one, coyote carrying off a rabbit and the cat carrying off a baby rabbit, and the roadrunner chopping off the head with a single bite of a an unknown species.
DeleteI often cry...feeling helpless. I love the way you care.
Beautiful light on the building...and I love the cats!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joan - welcome home from your trip to Venice. I really enjoyed seeing all your sketches.
DeleteAnother lovely blue entrance with the warm tones of Adobe surrounding it -- perfect complimentaries! I like the way you captured the sunlight on the foreground rock; I can almost feel the warmth.
ReplyDeleteThank you Helene. It will soon be getting too hot for these cats to lounge in the sun. Shade is much easier to paint!
DeleteHope all is well and you are getting your new series of paintings happily done.
Love the cats!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Bruce - happy you like it. I was fascinated reading your post about the visit to watch Robin Cheers make a video for
DeleteLiledahl Videos Such a professional company. I admire her work and will look out for it. When are YOU doing one?
It is so interesting how you have surrounded the focus of the sun (light) by shadowing the perimeter of the painting. What a beautiful combination of colors!
ReplyDeletehappy you like it, Carol. Thank you. The light was actually like that but I wait for it to be so!
Deletenice contrast between the living cats and the abandoned house :)
