Turquoise and Orchid

Turquoise and Orchid
8x6in oil on linen  Gifted.

The photo is not too clear and has caught a
bit of a glare.
Sorry. On vacation and do not have my usual set-up.

I love this little vase. I mean I really love it, and was
devastated when I accidentally knocked it off
the table and saw it shattered into many pieces.
Our host and good friend, understanding my loss
miraculously glued the jigsaw of pieces
back together...patiently sanding angles
and matching shapes. It took hours.
What an eye!
What a really good friend.
He grows orchids so this was a gift for him.
MY time for His time seems right... doesn't it?

Flowers - On The Shelf #5

Flowers - On The Shelf #5

8x6in  oil on canvas   $125. SOLD

My second shelf painting with flowers.
My wonderful daughter sent me some beautiful flowers
(not these) and this is a trial run on using the shelf.
I am looking forward to painting them tomorrow.

Artist Note.

This was an effort at trying to paint this in half an hour - failed!
It ended up taking almost three hours because I kept having to
scrape it off. I was being too realistic, making every flower equally
realistic. Not my goal of how I wanted it to look.
I know I can paint "realistically" if I wanted to, but I was after a
very loose interpretation. The goal was to have only one of the flowers
portraying what it type of flower it was and the rest had to be believable,
but really abstracted.

I am still having major problems downloading into Blogger
from my Picasa program. Before, I could click on "create"  and it
would go directly down to  "publish to blogger."
Is there any other easy way to handle downloading into Blogger?

Turquoise and Peonies Squared!

Turquoise and Peonies Squared.

6x6in oil on canvas panel  $100.

I really love this color combination. Red is my favorite color
but turquoise has to be next.

Artist Note.

A fellow artist challenged me to see if I could
fit my turquoise vase into a square format.
I had to make it a bit shorter with no foreground
and take one of the flowers up to the top.
The square is very popular with artists
because it is perfect for the contemporary still life.

Peonies and Turquoise

Peonies and Turquoise

8x6in  oil on canvas panel   $125. SOLD

This turquoise vase is a real beauty, but I cannot put anything
wimpy in it. It shows best at peony time.
These are apricots right off our lone fruit tree. It is rather a
disappointing crop this year and I am under oath not to keep
these in the studio overnight as hubby wants to eat them.
After the lemon series I did, I think he is worried I will decide to do
one on apricots, and then he will never get one.
Come to think of it, they are a wonderful color... hmm...
