Peaches and Roses

Peaches and Roses

8x6in oil on canvas panel  $125 SOLD

Beautiful roses always lift my spirits so when my daughter
left to return to her new home, I set up a lovely still life to paint
using my favorite blue and gold together.

This handsome red fox came onto our deck. I did not know
we had foxes here. I have seen coyotes, snakes, quail, and
rabbits galore, but this is the first time I have seen a fox.
Glad there is no "Tally Ho" in this part of the country.

Artist Note.

Tomorrow I am going to show a great little exercise on edges.
It has worked successfully with the members of the Guild.
Stay tuned!

  4. Dear Julie, how well I understand this particular moment!
Life returns to normal for me in a few days and some painting. Your roses are true beauty, seem to tell the intense joy of precious days that must remain in the heart, with your lovely blue and golden, enhanced by red accents.
The fox came as a surprise, less disturbing, in my eyes, so many others that I have seen on Art Talk!

The roses you have done are wonderful. We both did roses at the same time - neat! sisters!

  5. Really nice atmosphere, colour and texture.
I once woke up to a fox sitting on the back lawn looking at me through the patio windows in the bedroom. It was a fantastic experience.

  6. I think foxes are just so darned cute. I hope this one isn't so hungry that he is braving human contact for food. Love the roses, Julie, and look forward to seeing your edges exercise.

    1. Cute is a good word. Since I put it on my post I am hearing all types of neat fox stories. A friend has one living on his roof (flat roof)

  7. Blue and gold is a wonderful color combination and reminds of the Swedish flag. The still life is vibrant in color and has a lovely composition, well done.

PS! Still not finished with my renovation. It is no fun to wait for others to finish their jobs.

If you have any chickens or rabbits, it's a pretty sure bet Mr Bernard wasn't slinking around just to visit you. :)
You can bet I'll be slinking around to see the advise on edges!

    1. Ha - me with chickens or rabbits? No time to take care of the little darlings. We have no idea how he climbed up to the deck except by climbing a tree which I have found out they do just like cats. I love nature when it comes to my door and I prefer this beauty to the snakes - by far!
You paint horses so well, Dean. Amazing!

  11. Glorious painting Julie. We all need a lift when our kids leave. Roses do lift the spirits and you do them so well. Occasionally, I'll see a fox sunning himself in our yard. They are beautiful creatures. Their tails are strokable. I'm glad there's no tally ho here either.
