Sparkling Sun - Sparkling Water

Sparkling Sun - Sparkling Water

12x9 oil on canvas panel SOLD

This painting is from a set up I did at a
a close friend's studio in Santa Fe.

Artist Note.

This is an older painting. I decided after a week
of not painting or blogging I should at least post
something to get me going.

In the photo, the glare on the window blocks out
the beautiful colors outside. I was drawn to the
warm, sunny green next to the cooler blue/green of
the Pellegrino bottle label.

I am still not painting. The loss of my friend is still
acute. I have tried to paint, but my mind is not there.
I tried all weekend, but nothing seemed to go right.
Lots of "off with its head" moments which makes
one question if they should be an artist at all!
I am missing the blogging world though, and I have
started visiting and commenting.  It is very good, on a
deep level, to belong to a group of art minded friends.

The understanding support from so many has
warmed my heart and I thank you.

  1. Sometimes it happens in my life a certain period, which I call "The days of NO".
In the days of no, all my usual activities are stopped.
I do the bare minimum needed to live and for life of those next to me ... it happened to me after I finished the medical treatment, or before dealing surgery.
I happened also for the reasons of crisis more different. But since when I paint are in a mood very nice .... the truth is that when I do not have this state of mind I can not draw or paint and sometimes, I stopped  also public relations (these also are usually pleasant moments). There comes a time that" the days of no" end, they are always finished, leaving me calm because I have lived in some way all my negative mood, and I elaborated discomfort, without discarding it. This is my personal experience,I hope it maybe useful... Loving thoughts and hug Rita.

    1. I do feel it and am touched by it. You are right about time, but it is getting to where time has passed enough to lessen the loss- I guess. Thanks, dear Helen.

  6. I am so sorry about the loss of your friend. You may need some time to get yourself together before you can be creative. Think of your friend as an inspiration. She obviously wanted you to paint if she gave you that wonderful feather for your series.

    1. That is good advice. She did encourage me. She was not an artist but loved being around art and made many artists friends through the gallery she and her husband owned.
      Thanks for caring, Joan.

  11. You should do whatever you feel like doing...that is what your friend would want! It's kind of paradoxical...how time off will benefit you. I like the idea of putting up a painting from the past. This is a good one!

    1. It is true that Kris would understand but she would not want me or any of her friends to mourn her passing. it is just that I seems to have no control over the sadness.
Glad you like the paintings. I thought the colors were cheerful.

  13. Oh Julie...I am so sad to know you are hurting so. I wish I had words of wisdom but when the heart hurts, it hurts. I will say that I think this is beautiful. I can't decide if I love the colors of the bottle itself or if I am mesmerized by the colors in the wall! LOL I just like it all!

  16. I have been thinking of you and wondering how you are. Such a painful loss and healing takes time. Maybe you just need to paint on paper or in a journal and not do the "off with it's head" thing. Just leave what comes out of you as sort of a journal of the grieving process. Sending love.

  17. There is no doubt in my mind that you will return to painting with more depth of feeling than ever before, Julie!
When I lost my wife in 2004, painting was what saved me from going down the dark road of no return.
The Bible covers it all. This is a time that tests one's faith. It can also strengthen your faith.
Painting is good medicine at this time.
    God Bless

  19. I don't know what I can say, Julie, that hasn't been said beautifully before. I, too, am thinking of you and wishing you and your friend's family peace and comfort. I read an essay once that has offered me comfort at such times. It compared our lost ones to a ship who has set sail. Upon reaching the horizon it is still strong and whole and as it was. It is still there as it sails beyond the horizon, but it's beyond our sight. Still there in our memory but beyond our sight headed for new shores.

I am in the same boat with broken ribs and a life changing transition occurring in my life as well. Your re touched piece is beautiful..Just keep at it.Painting is the cure..even bad ones…just move the paint around
