Watercolor Weekend - Apple Trio

Apple Trio

6x6in watercolor on Strathmore NFS

A painting I actually finished!

Artist Note.
I have been trying all week to paint and
could not focus to finish one. It feels really
good to be able to pull this one off.

Thanks to everyone for the sensitive and
touching comments and emails. I am amazed
how many other of you have recently lost
a loved one and the losses to breast cancer
are many. I am reminded we have to appreciate
every day and truly love family and friends.

The magnitude of what has happened in the
Philippines is beyond comprehension. My
prayers are for help to reach the surviving men,
women, mothers, fathers, brothers,
sisters and all the animal life.
I know Daily Paintworks will be having an
auction to raise money like they always do.
They are wonderful and I will be happy, along
with all the other artists, to participate.

  1. Alas, all I can see is a box with an 'x' in it! Still, I know it felt good to be able to get back to your painting and I know it is just a beauty. You are so right about appreciating every day. Sending you hugs, Julie.

  3. Julie, As always, your painting shows your voice. I understand your feelings this week, both for you and your friend. I got called in last week for a 2nd view after a mammogram. I tried not to worry, but those days of waiting were nerve wracking. We have friends in the Phillipines who we have not heard from this week. Life is certainly filled with angst.

    1. Thanks for sharing, Pam. I am presuming that you must have been given the okay regarding the results. It is such a worry.
Do hope your friends survive and prayers answered..
That was a lovely thing to say about my painting - thank you

  8. I'm back, Julie, and love the apples.

I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. I know how you feel, it is a year since my brother died. He spent most of his life being winched down from a helicopter to rescue people such as those poor souls in the Philippines.

    Gone, but never forgotten.

    1. Thank you John, Nice to hear from you again.
Colin would have been helpful in the Philippines but maybe he still is - helping in a different way.

  9. Julie-

I see the image now. This one is really nice-it's very clear and crisp without being crisp! If that makes any sense:)

  11. really beautiful! I very much enjoy the shapes in the stems and leaves...! Wonderful color! I also feel a wonderful kinship with some of my blogging friends who seem to know great things to say to me right at the right time. How lucky we are to live in an age where I can meet someone like you (who paints wonderful paintings and expresses herself so well with words!)

  16. Dear Julie - these apples are so beautiful. I love the purples and yellows you selected. I always have a hard time finishing a painting so I understand. Also the devastation in the Philippines breaks my heart as well. It is wonderful that we who have been blessed can share with those in such terrible need. I am very concerned for the Palm Haven Children's home - we have Missionaries that have been there for years...praying they are safe. Hope you have a lovely day.

Those poor storm victims have been in my prayers. Very saddening.
