Yellow Crocs - Santa Fe.

Yellow Crocs

6x8in oil on canvas  $135. SOLD

Artist Note.

I saw this lady with the
bright yellow crocs
catching the rays in Santa Fe.
When I asked if I could take a photo
she said, "sure" but she never looked up
from her writing...
and her dog's eyes
never stopped watching me.
The dog had a purple leash
and next to the yellow crocs
my heart was captured.

    1. thanks Ann. It is pretty universal isn't it. She could be sitting anywhere in most cities where it is bright and sunny.
It was neat visiting Dorset thru your blog. Great pics too.

  2. What a lucky find, Julie! And, complementary colors, no less! Wonderful texture and blend of colors on the wall! And, a cooperative dog as well. Wonderful subject matter!

    1. Blue jeans are everywhere is this neck of the woods so the adobe does go well. I never thought of the complement. Duh!
I painted it pretty true to the colors and missed out a huge pipe.
It was the hat which was hard. It was a really large one and looked out of proportion so I tried to cit it down but it looked weird. Fish are easier!

    1. I appreciate that, thanks Hilda.
I bet you are feeling for the folk in SC. Quite awful for them. Memories of Sandy must still be fresh in your mind..
Mother Nature can be pretty powerful as well as gentle.

  4. I love the dog and laughed when it watched me so carefully. I did a little pencil sketch and moved a bit too close and he started to growl. She still never looked up. She knew she had a good protector by her side.
Thanks for the visit Myra. Green shoes Myra...how about those stilettos!

    1. Hard to catch you out, John! Fastest mind in the UK. Pleased to know you like this one.
Neat seeing the old photos on your blog. What a change you have witnessed in the boat building industry but how neat to know wood boats are still built the same way.

  7. I think my favorite part of this little gem is the shadow shape that the hat makes on the wall. I love that quirky detail-- like a tiny hidden treasure!

    1. I agree, but I did find it unusual that she didn't even look up to see who was asking. At first my intention was to paint the funky crocs. Then the dog was so steadfast in his loyalty to her I had time to study him and loved those EARS!
Then her hat became interesting...so that is the way this painting came together.
I enjoyed seeing your sketching day at the beach. You captured the feeling of floating clouds brilliantly.
