Meeting a Fellow Blogger.
Anne Winthrop Cordin
Anne and Cooper
I was delighted to get a message
from Anne
from Anne
asking if we could meet as
she passed through Las Cruces
with her husband (and dog).
Are you kidding...Absolutely!
with her husband (and dog).
Are you kidding...Absolutely!
I have followed Anne for a few years.
I love her blog and work. She paints
with a wonderful abstract vision,
and writes amazingly well
about her process,
including personal ruminations
which are always interesting.

Look what Anne painted while in Las Cruces.
A White Winged Dove.
Thank you, dear Anne, for taking the time to visit
and for making it such an interesting
and stimulating time. I loved every moment.
Hope you come again.

What a nice post .... lovely dog too.
ReplyDeleteBoth of them were really warm and friendly. Anne is a smart woman so it was neat to hear her thoughts on art snd blogging. You wouls like her John...she has a good sense of humor.
DeleteWhat a nice surprise Julie! I think bloggers should set up a reunion somewhere to finally meet.! Wouldn't that be fun..
ReplyDeleteHer white winged dove is beautifully painted!! I'm glad you both got to meet.
What a treat for both of you! Love this happy story.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for the introduction to Anne's blog and beautiful work, Julie.
You are welcome, dear Hilda. Happy you see what I enjoy in Anne's work.
DeleteI cannot wrap my mind round the way you can go from painting ballet slippers to a magnificent horse. Amazing!
Wonderful! Thanks for the introduction.
ReplyDeleteHappy you enjoyed seeing her work.
DeleteShe will enjoy your too.
What a nice surprise Julie! Thanks for the mention and the cute photo of Cooper and me. As you know, our meeting was really special and I loved being shown the inside Las Cruces, from your gallery to the special meal we shared to talk art, art, art. A real highlight of my winter on the road.
ReplyDeleteCertainly a real highlight in mine, Anne. You are fun and really good at talking art! Loved it. Thanks for sharing some of your ideas for teaching. Your students are very fortunate.
DeleteYour new painting done on the border is so typical of the colors in Nogales. Wishing the three of you safe travels.
What a great picture! Anne looks so very nice, and Cooper is completely captivating. Sounds as if you two had a ball, and Anne's painting is delightful. Plus, whenever she looks at it, she'll remember her happy time with you.
ReplyDeleteLove to meet YOU one day Helene. What fun that would be.
DeleteI think so, too, Julie. Boy, would we have a chin-wag!
DeleteA delightful post! How nice to be able to meet in person someone with whom you've already formed a bond via blogging! I can feel the abstract leanings in Anne's work and like how she applies it to many subjects. Congrats to both of you for connecting!
ReplyDeleteHappy you enjoyed it, Carol. I certainly feel a bond with you after all this time. There is something special isn't there, about some of the relationships formed through blogging? Admiration for the art is the start but then after time the essence of the person emerges. A very rewarding part of my life.
DeleteHope your recovery continues in the best possible way.
Her painting is beautiful! How special to be able to meet in person, she looks like a very warm person.
ReplyDeleteShe is - just like I feel you are, Celia. They say, like attracts like!
DeleteOh how nice Julie. Looks like you had a delightful time.
ReplyDeleteWe did indeed, Thanks, Blanche. Missing your paintings!
Deletesuch a fluffy puppy! :D
ReplyDeleteI haven't met anyone I talk to online, I live too far away sadly :/
You are so courageous, Jennifer. Fighting MS and still producing no matter a bad or good day. Shame you are in another country or I would sure love to visit you.
DeleteIt is always fun to meet a friend from the internet. How great that she stopped to visit.
ReplyDeleteI know you were MIA for a while. I did do one alcohol ink on yupo (Feb 7 post). I think it is easier to do the alcohol inks on yupo than to do watercolors. There is more control because the alcohol inks actually dry. The watercolors just sit there and you wait. lol I need to do more of them.
You should know - you had Wendy from Australia not only visit but paint with you and the Urban Sketchers.http://wendybarrettpainting.blogspot.com/2016/05/sketching-in-times-square.html
DeleteI find less control with the inks because of the fast drying time. Blending is difficult. Good for you for finding an easier way. Experimenting is what it is all about.
Very beautiful picture, so cute dog and nice painting !!!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice and ceative new week !!!
Hello Stelios, Thank you. I really enjoyed seeing your street scenes. No one does transparent shadow better.
DeleteWasn't that lovely! It's wonderful how blogging can connect us to others with similar interests. Something good about social media. Enjoy your day Julie!
ReplyDeleteI went for years without social media thinking blogging was something different, but the friendships formed have been a connective source of pleasure for me.
DeleteI remember having pen-pals when I was younger and it is so similar.
Love the dried hydrangeas with snow on them. .
We make some great online art friends with technology today! So glad you guys were able to get together!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sharon. I was thinking how amazing you are with your way of teaching the kids. Every single face glowed with pleasure from their accomplishment. You have a gold star coming your way!
DeleteSo sweet to read this post, thank you for the wonderful introduction of Anne! Hope to meet you someday!
ReplyDeleteOh Padmaja - wouldn't that be wonderful if we could meet. Next time you come to the US maybe?
DeleteI really enjoyed seeing your new painting. Great shapes and colors. Abstraction suits you!
That must be a special feeling..... meeting a fellow blogger.
ReplyDeleteYes - it was and continues to be.
DeleteYOu are very good with taking videos...and editing them too.
How exciting for you and Anne, to be able to meet a fellow blogger is truly a wonderful experience. Hilda and I met at one of the shows, it was like seeing a life long friend. We now get together to do shows. All the best to you and Anne.
