Crape Myrtle Bouquet

Crape Myrtle Bouquet
8"x 8" Raymar canvas panel $200.
Purchase HERE

Artist Note
The Crape Myrtle trees are blooming like crazy
just a few steps outside my studio.
Loaded with blooms they are so beautiful.

How fortunate to be in a downtown which
has flowering trees.

You can see my experiments with
fracturing the paint and mark making
are still continuing.
It is an interesting process.
Bit by bit I am taking note of what
I respond to and in what way...
positive or negative.
I have no idea how it will all end up
but I am enjoying the freedom
and interest.

  1. I don't recall ever having seen a Crape Myrtle, Julie, so how lovely it is to be introduced to it through the sheer splendour of your creative work.

    1. Before I left England I cannot remember ever seeing these so after reading your comment I did a Google search. It is only since the climate has changed and Britain is starting to getting warmer that the shrub variety are doing okay in the southern areas. Interesting.

  4. Julie I enlarged this painting. Your fracturing technique is gorgeous. The texture is so apparent and of course I love the subject. Imagine having such beautiful blooms right out your window. Hope you are enjoying lots of sunshine and lovely weather today. Hugs!

    1. It is a process of putting on and taking off. Figuring out what I like and what I don't. At least it is keeping me interested. Thanks for the visit Carol. Always nice chatting.

    1. What a meaningful comment to me - thank you, Lorraine.
I start them all differently so NOT to have a formula. there is a feeling or special look I need to see at the end, though. Your latest landscape has fabulous edge control I really love it.
