Another quick study and when I paint fast it appears the painting acquires softer edges.

This is a brushwork accident and I find it appealing. My basic inclination is to "tidy it up" but I managed to take the photo before doing it... so now it is cast in stone and stays as is.

I think the tendency to tidy up is from my years as an illustrator, when the clients wanted a more finished look for their presentations. One day in the future, knowing me, I will pick this up and start working on it again.

This maybe the last of the fruit paintings because the plums are getting too ripe. I did enjoy getting fruit right out of the orchard because the leaves were still on some of them and they make interesting shapes

I did this for the Rectangle Challenge on Paintworks. The challenge is to only use rectangular strokes and on top of that - a color change with each stroke. It is a great concept and I tried but failed in parts because I kept forgetting as I became engrossed in the painting and would resume to my usual manner. Will try another one trying to follow the rules.

I am feeling all "pushing color" out. After a few days of "pushing color" I find I am looking for a nice, gray subject. Maybe I will do this subject matter in a different palette tomorrow.

This blue and orange color scheme is pushed in intensity more than my normal palette.

I am experimenting with a different technique and if I stuck to using my usual colors I would most likely fall back into my comfort zone....if there is such a thing for little old, critical me!
