The Water Lily

The Water Lily
6inx6in oil on canvas board $110. SOLD

Artist Note
#9 in the series

Moving towards abstraction
after exploring the more detailed
versions in the series.
This started off brighter
with thicker paint,
and it got softer
as I eliminated more detail

I am out of town so am not able
to get to answer all the
comments from the last post.
I do thank you taking the time
to comment and will look
forward to checking
your posts when I return

  1. My favorite composition for an abstract. Beautiful movement with one object painted representational. The lily just sings.

  2. Julie, I'm in LOVE! This little gem has everything going for it...excellent range of values, warm/cool hues, saturated colors and neutrals, large and small shapes, complementary colors, tantalizing contrast, gestural lines, and amazing texture, etc. This is the kind of abstraction I'm drawn to where the artist has the basis in reality, but with incredible abstract interest and elements. Oh, I want to do this so badly! A "tour de force," for sure, Julie!
