Hummer

Hummer
Alcohol Ink on Copper
6x6in mounted on 8x8in and framed.

available HERE

It was great - the opening of my
solo show was the most fun one yet.
Lots of warm and friendly faces.
I had a great time.

Having a solo show takes a huge
amount of work and I was
pretty well shot by the time
it rolled around but two great
friends flew in and another
one drove in with food
and they made it a real party.
Hubby was delighted
and I am still Beaming!

    1. Thanks, Carol, it does glow. I did a few paintings on the copper and enjoyed it very much. I intend to do more.
Thanks for missing me. Warms my heart.
Your plum painting is a wonderful example of not only great edges, but how to use the color white in the shadows. II LOVED it!

    1. Ah, you have a solo show. It can be very exciting but I hope you have more stamina than I have. It wore me out. Still - it was invigorating and challenging and made me produce some good work.
I really enjoyed seeing the wonderful owl on your new post. Has your show got a theme?

    1. Glad you see it is a bit different. I consider that a huge complement, Carol.
I have been experimenting with the inks and have several different ways I prefer to use it.

  9. Indeed a jewel of a painting. It's a dazzling little gem! How wonderful that your show rolled out so well, and so lovely that some great friends gave you more reasons to feel celebrated and cherished! I couldn't be more pleased for you -- really a well-deserved triumph.

Thanks for your kind words on my last post. You are always so encouraging. It was a one of a few older pieces I've re-posted as I recover from cataract surgery.

    1. Oh oh..cataract surgery eh? I have one eye getting close to having it done. I have to alternate looking at the colors with each eye for me to see the real colors. Hope yours went smoothly.
On your painting I think the relationship of the blue in light to the blue in shadow was perfect and the cool reflected light on the inner rim in shadow - made my day!
Happy you like this little hummer!

    1. Thank you, Sharon. How nice of you.
Yes - lots of sales, but even more important was the turnout.
Windy with expected hail, and yet they still all came. Having the support of your peers is a real warm fuzzy!!

It was exciting seeing you put on such a great painting event. You amaze me.

  11. Hi there, nice to see you back, I'm sure your exposition was a great success ! Tell me more , tell me more... I had a solo exposition in last march , and at the same time I sold my house and renovated another one ...pure stress, I understand you. Love the hummer , great effect with the alcohol .

    1. Hi, dear Jane...tell you more?...well I made 30 pieces as well as working and then assembled and modified the frames. A month before the show I injured my knee and got a very painful Bakers Cyst. Orthopedic Dr thinks torn meniscus and I begged for a shot to get me thru the opening. Still not right so I go back in December. It did make me rather grouchy for the last month until the shot. TMI?
I could never do what you did and move, and all that entails. My hats off to you, Jane.
Your latest painting provides another viewing pleasure. Her face is beautiful.

    1. Hi Roxanne. Your use of texture and fall colors make for a really beautiful painting.
The AI are wonderful on any non porous surface. Stunning on the aluminum panels. It does take some experimenting to take them into fine art as they are more along the crafts/decorative line. I found a lot of you-tube videos on them helpful.
      happy you like the Hummer.
