Freesias and a Neat Product
Freesias
5x7in oil on canvas panel $100
Beautiful freesias bouquet from Trader Joe's in Albuquerque.
I love having friends who travel up there and bring me
back flowers to paint..
Artist Note.
This demo shows a bit more detail than the last floral I posted.
But still trying to only suggest the outer flowers by
shape and color.
I want to share a wonderful product from
Fine Art Name Plates
When I had my bird nest show last year I had a very large
painting of a Sandhill Cranes's nest and ordered a name
plate for it. See below.
This is what the owner came up with for me. He placed a
beautiful Sandhill Crane on the plate. The people who bought it
were just as thrilled with the name plate as they were with the
painting. They said it added a lot of class.
I truly believe it helped sell the expensive painting...and for
a very small amount of money.
The company has different sizes, prices and different shapes
Yes- that is a Twachtman plate at the bottom.
They also have an excellent clientele which they would not
have if they did bad work. I thought I would pass it
on as everything I have had a plate made for, has sold.
Maybe the plate had something to do with it?
The gallery I am in loves them.
And just in case you are wondering
...no-one in my family owns the business!!!!

400th Consecutive Blog!
A Touch of Red
8x6in oil on canvas panel $125. SOLD
400 posts! Yikes!
I am celebrating tonight with a pat on the back for myself.
When I first started I never thought I would be able to do
this project, but I made a commitment and stuck with it.
I feel proud of my growth and self discipline, but most of all
I am proud of my husband, Jim. For someone who doesn't
give a darn about art, (true) he has been 100% supportive.
So publicly I want to say, thank you, I love you and
...whats for supper!!! (joke..but he took over most of
the cooking when I started this and is now an excellent cook)
Artist Note,
I have done this painting before and liked something about it
so wanted to see what it would be like done in the fracturing
technique. It is the same and yet so different.

Freesia and Turquoise
Freesia and Turquoise
6x6in oil on canvas panel $100. SOLD
This beautiful little vase was handmade in Japan and I have painted it a lot.
The glaze turns from Turquoise into a deep cobalt which seems to float
on top of a rich brown glaze. There is no way I can capture it with paint.
It is fun trying though!

Freesia Study #2
oil on canvas 6"x8" $80.
The freesias are opening up along the stem. The tiny end buds do not seem to open when they are from the store but when I grow them in my garden every single bud opens up.
This piece was a rush job as I worked on some larger paintings today and almost forgot that I am trying to do a small painting a day.
I painted this study very quickly - going for the basic shapes plus light and dark patterns. It certainly is a good way to not get into too much detail.
Tomorrow I will get back to the birds nests.
