Desert Sunrise
Desert Sunrise
6x8in oil on canvas panel $125.
Sunrise is a personal, favorite time.
This is for the Daily Paintworks Sky Challenge
|Jill Bates came up with the challenge. Click on her name
to see her beautiful work.
Artist Note.
This was done very quickly and there are areas which
could be tidied-up, but I know if I start fiddling around
with it I will lose part of what I like.
I am sure I am not the only one who has messed up
what could have been a fresh, nice sketch by trying to
make it perrrfect!

I was hoping to see an entry from you for this challenge, you didnt disappoint me! It is beautiful!Sunrises are never tiring to paint!
ReplyDeleteHow nice to hear that - thanks. I think your new piece is a beautiful abstract with great design and colors.
DeleteI love that sky on fire and the abstract feel of it. Very nice indeed.
ReplyDeleteAnd your rose colored glass is beautiful. I like the idea of placing tomatoes in red class. Clever!
DeleteNow see this beautiful light, to me, is a privilege! The colors you used are great together!
ReplyDeleteIn these days of fog and rain I'm in the dark throughout the day: how artificial lights change life and paint! With a few exceptions (that charming , all noses up... looking blue sky) the autumn of the Po Valley is a pale gray neutral color!
I remember how dreary England could be with days of continual drizzle. It is fabulous for the skin though if that is any consolation.
DeleteGlad you like the painting. I deliberately held back a bit on saturation to see if I could get the "feel" of sunrise as I find that it is usually more gentle than sunset.
No Julie , you are not the first, fiddling around happens WAAAYYYYY too often in my case ! The colors in this sunrise are stunning and I love the rocks in the foreground that gives strength or bone to the painting, gorgeous !
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane, and you made me smile with your WAAAYYYYY. I can tell that was an honest understanding!
DeleteStory of my life Julie! Why do we do that I wonder?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunrise. It is my favorite part of the day also:)
Hi Libby, I think it is part of our knowledge base growing.
DeleteDoes that make sense to you?
Pleased to hear we share a love of sunrise.
Wow, Julie! I knew it was the desert immediately. Gorgeous sun over all the land too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, my dear. Outstanding drawings on your blog and the giraffe is fabulous
DeleteJulie, you absolutely captured the feel of a beautiful sunrise. Gorgeous!! It is one of my favorite times of the day although I usually see it over an ocean instead of the desert.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for you VERY nice comment about my painting post today. When someone with your talent gives me such a nice comment, it really makes my day and makes me want to RUN back to the easel again.
I only saw the sunrise over the ocean when I was on the east coast. Lucky you!
DeleteYour blog comment was complementary because your sunflower knocked my socks off.
Not really abstract but with the feeling of it, like sunrises actually are... at least to my eyes. The painting is absolutely beautiful, my favorite detail is the red touches at the bottom of the painting.
ReplyDeleteWarm regards.
Thanks and glad you liked the red touches. Deep red rock formations come alive with the sun hitting them at any time but when it is sunrise or sunset the color can amaze.
DeleteI really like your new painting.
I love that one, wonderful warm colors O:-)
ReplyDeleteThank you. I really admire your work
DeleteGorgeous piece, Julie!! Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Hilda - thanks and talk about gorgeous - your new landscape is amazing, and as I commented - they could use it on a travel poster.
DeleteBeautiful, Julie! I would love to be sitting watching this scene right now!
ReplyDeleteMe too! Sunrise brings hope of new beginnings and old worries fade away.
ReplyDeleteLove your dog!
Hello Julie:) This is beautiful. The colors are great and in your style it has something special!
ReplyDeleteNothing is as free to move as our atmosphere. But you have beautifully frozen a split second of its movement in your painting, Julie!
ReplyDeletePainting is definitely an art, but knowing where to quit is an art in itself.
