Tea Lights

Tea Lights

6x6in oil on canvas board $100.

Day 21 in the 30 in 30 Days Challenge
My personal goal for this challenge - to paint only
what I have never painted or thought of painting before.

I love tea lights. They are so handy to place around
and last just a few hours.
This is the first time I have ever painted them and
want to do them again after the challenge.
I have a feeling they are something I would enjoy
studying

My computer change-over is taking up
precious painting time.

  1. Julie you take a very simple subject, tea lights, and give it amazing complexity. There is a shower of colors in this painting. Great job.

    1. Thanks, Helen. I painted it over a red undercoating. I think it added to the glow.

  4. You've captured the warm glow that tea lights create and how they flicker and effect the atmosphere around them. I can see how you'd want to revisit the subject later. Your facturing technique makes this even better!

  8. Remarkable, Julie. I love how the light spreads from the flame through the glass, onto the table and background. The matches are a perfect addition.

    1. Thanks, Roger. Mood of the season must mean the longer nights for you. I light tea lights through the year at meal times. So gentle and lovely.

    1. Thanks Margaret. They were actually. A couple of wipers before getting this one, but I am a believer in the more you paint a particular thing the more an artist can learn to say something special about it.
