Teapot and Pears
7"x 5 1/2" watercolor on Yupo
Artist Note.
I wasn't thinking about standard sizes
when I cut my Yupo sheet into small
pieces . I wanted to have enough to to freely
experiment on. Now I am in trouble with myself
because I like this one.
I have waxed it and love the finish the matt
surface - the colors still have a beauty
to them. Best of all - it does not have to go under glass.
Going to keep this one for a while.
I can see why you want to keep this one around for awhile Julie!! Beautiful piece!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Hilda.
DeleteWaiting for your next masterpiece!!!!
Love the arrangement of the elements and the fluidity of the colors, it looks ravishing! Is there a wax for water colors?
ReplyDeleteHi Padmaja - yes, there are several cold wax products. The one I like can be found at the link below.

I don't blame you Julie. It is a beautiful piece. I fell in love as soon as I saw it!
ReplyDeletestunningly!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely!! Your watercolors are just as stunning as your oils!! Haven't gotten the courage to try Yupo yet. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis lovely painting is such a fine example of how the properties of Yupo contribute to the look of the painting. Those great marks and spots that happen with watercolor certainly come alive on this surface. It just glows. I surely want to try this paper one day soon.
ReplyDeleteSo juicy, so colorful. Very interesting to recognize you in this unusual material and watercolors.
ReplyDeleteI love it too! Such an interesting surface texture on the yupo.
ReplyDeleteOf course I love it! Deep rich color makes those pears look you're ready to take a bite.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous looseness in this piece. The primary color scheme is wonderful! Beautiful piece.
ReplyDeletea real nice feel and mood!

A lovely piece! I checked out the info on the wax on your blog post in March. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI like your watercolour. It looks like very natural for me.
ReplyDeleteYes I can see why you are attached to this one. Fabulous work. The matt finish sounds interesting. Need to investigate. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThe dark background really makes the pitcher and cup "pop", Julie!! Live it!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! I love the drips, the abstract shapes in the background!
ReplyDeleteOutstanding! This really shows off your fine drawing skills.
ReplyDeleteI knew it was Yupo when I looked at it--the effect is so great..! I really love how in control and out of control it looks!
ReplyDeleteI always admire the coherence of all your work .
ReplyDeleteThis composition has the same imprint of your art works "fracturing"
in a different technique, maintaining the same expressive power in the looseness of watercolor. The wax finish (which I am very curious) seems perfect to enhance this masterpiece.
The edges (though dark) have beautiful depth that seems transparent - love this!
ReplyDeleteJulie, your work is outstanding and inspiring. I am a big fan, thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh Julie - I can see why you would want to keep this one too. Wow it is beautiful. I just love your art my friend. Yupo and watercolor really suit your lovely style. Hope you have a great week. Hugs
