Artist Note
A friend heard me
struggle through my block
and came to the studio as
this one was developing.
She said she liked it.
When it hit the gallery walls
she bought it.
Happy dance!!
I will do a happy dance around the kitchen on your behalf! And kudos to your friend who has proved that she appreciates the finer things in life.
ReplyDeleteYOU ARE FUN! thanks for the sunshine, David.
DeleteHuge Congratulations, Julie on selling this gorgeous piece. The colors and amazing texture is SO good. I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy you like it thanks Hilda. Love Love your gate painting.
DeleteCongrats on the sale! I like this one a lot...a different background palette than you normally use.
ReplyDeleteYes...coming out of the dark and still pretty neutral background. Now I am fully back into the color I like so much.Your daily sketches are wonderful.
DeleteI'm not surprised your friend snatched this gem up; it's really lovely! You've mentioned that your palette is lighter now that your block is receding, and it certainly seems so in this piece. It has a classical feeling, perhaps due to those soft tones, and reminds me of some of Renoir's paintings of spring bouquets. Beautiful, Julie! (BTW, you have some fabulous vases, I must say!)
ReplyDeleteIt reminded me of an oldie too but not as good as Renoir. I will take that one and preen! I do have great props and this is one I paint a lot. Always looks a bit different depending what is in it. It has a handle I left out here.
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful painting, "In The Moment" makes me want to head to the lake.
Thank you, Julie! Your generous compliments always make my day. I hope you DO "preen" -- you deserve to do so!!
DeleteSo, so lovely! The color of the background and the energy there really sets off the bouquet.
