Painted during cherry season,
but it never made it to my blog.

I painted it at a friend's house
from life. I liked her nice shiny
colander better than the cherries.
It was a challenge to paint
the reflections

Regarding the post about the circular 

rainbow on day 6

I was thrilled when this kind artist sent me the 

following email confirming my experience.

When I saw your rainbow painting

I knew it was a "Pilot's Halo".

I was a stewardess back in the 60's

and whenever we saw the shadow of

the plane against the cloud below

surrounded by a full rainbow

we used to love to make the announcement

and tell everyone to look

 and it created some excitement....

today when I see one I call the flight attendant

and ask them if they know what a Pilot's Halo 

is so I can show them...but 

they don't seem to care.

I guess the glamour and excitement 

has gone out of being a stewardess!!!

New Mexico Snow

New Mexico Snow

Snow arrived in time for the Holidays.

We are fortunate here in Southern New Mexico
because the sun shines well over 300 days a year.
We still get a taste of all seasons though and
that makes me appreciate living here all the more.
I would go nuts with the same temps year round.

Below is the same scene during the summer
- painted last  year.

Artist Note

I am trying new colors and a 

truly, truly

limited palette with watercolor.

One red - one blue and one yellow.

I have experienced continual cloudy days and

I find it has really

affected my color vision.

It also has provided me with a deeper understanding 

of the old master's paintings 

when brown was 

dominate in the background.

 Candlelight was their major source 

of illumination at night and on 

rainy days I now feel I understand

what it was like.

Explains a lot!

I have been presented with more fresh

pomegranates and think I will remove

the pears in this still life and 

put at least one of the poms in. 

That is the beauty of Yupo.

Wipes off clear back to the white.

I will show you tomorrow what it 

looks like with the changes.

Only a few more days left in the

This painting was painted from a 

plein air watercolor sketch I did 

earlier this summer.

It is larger than my usual blog size

and I have an agreement with 

the wonderful people at the (above) gallery,

Mark and Gail,

that anything larger than 8"x8" goes

through them.

It has turned out to be a win-win 

situation for all as their large and beautiful
