Peonies and Turquoise

Peonies and Turquoise

8x6in  oil on canvas panel   $125. SOLD

This turquoise vase is a real beauty, but I cannot put anything
wimpy in it. It shows best at peony time.
These are apricots right off our lone fruit tree. It is rather a
disappointing crop this year and I am under oath not to keep
these in the studio overnight as hubby wants to eat them.
After the lemon series I did, I think he is worried I will decide to do
one on apricots, and then he will never get one.
Come to think of it, they are a wonderful color... hmm...

  2. This is incredible good! Just can't find suitably strong words of praise. And this turquoise enslaves!

  4. Beautifully painted, the peony and the vase shine, but I cannot over look those gorgeously done, transparent cherries.

  5. I too have just painted a turquoise vase (my favourite colour) well jug really pretending to be a vase. This is a very beautiful painting, full of luscious, buttery, colourful paint, uplifting!

    1. Thanks Hilda. I love the colors too. Turquoise is my birthstone and I ended up living where it is all over the place.

  7. Julie, I am lucky to own one of your beautiful paintings, but I must say that the latest paintings seem to have been done with a palette knife. My painting of yours that I own of the blue bowl and pears was done with a brush, I think. Have you changed to a palette knife, or is this a combination of both? Just love all your paintings, regardless of how they were done! Bravo on this one!

    1. Hi Maryanne, I recently posted a comment on your wonderful shutter painting on the DPW stripe challenge.
Yes - there is a lot of brushwork in this painting. I used a combination. Glad you like it. Thank you.

    1. Thanks Vinayak, congrats on your DPW interview. I enjoyed it very much. Regarding the sold sign. My first time with Pay Pal selling the same painting twice within one minute of each other. I didn't know that could happen. Any hints anyone?

I'm studying how to get great watercolors in small spaces, but I still feel very far from the result!
