These are two paintings I donated to the local Spay and Neuter
annual fund raiser. Obviously they are based on copies of famous paintings
and I added the animals. I had fun doing them.
They both pre-sold which was nice for me to hear.

ReplyDeleteWhen I first started painting I copied a lot of masterpieces. I did Van Gogh's Starry Night Over Rhone, a Monet, Klimt's The Kiss and also Mada Primavesi and other's but I can't remember the names. I learned a lot from doing those renderings. A lot, a lot, a lot.
A lot.
At art school they had us copying the masters, but in black and white - UPSIDE DOWN!

ReplyDeleteIt was fun doing them. I did a whole pile 0f famous paintings with animals. I painted Matisse's goldfish with cats looking at the fish..it was another fun one

Thanks Rita. it turned out to be good for the fundraiser as most people have a sense of fun. The Matisse one I did with the goldfish, had one of the cats salivating!

Oh my gosh! What a great idea! For the last 2 years I have been donating pet portrait commissions to the local SPCA fundraiser. I would like to borrow this idea for the same purpose. Hope that's ok?

ReplyDeleteFamily Systems Theory explains relationships and group behavior in terms of anxiety, connectivity and emotional processes. Cats exemplify "Self-Differentiation" and draw us to them not because they obey us but because they do... sometimes. The reason most people find cats fascinating is because Cat and Cats innately understand the basics of Family Systems Theory and call us all to a higher emotional maturity.
