Lilacs
6x6in oil on canvas $100.
Day 21
This is one I painted during lilac time and never
finished...until today
.
Artist note.
I want to say thank you for all of your comments.
It is giving me an interesting perspective on
how my art comes across. Observations are
made which are helpful and encouraging.
The daily painting discipline does not allow
the luxury of contemplation and "on the spot"
decisions have to be made which are not
always clear cut. The comments provide
perspective that I don't have at the time.
You are invaluable and treasured.
I am getting around to everyone and
enjoying all the amazing art out there.
Have a great weekend.
Ooh I do love love love lilacs! Beautiful scent, gorgeous color...Scrumptious painting!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sherry. I remember you mentioned you liked lilacs back in the spring.
DeleteI love your flowers! It is quite different to paint flowers on a small canvas and I haven't figured that out...even after studying yours. I was successful yesterday in painting my first piece, but the second one, which was a close look at flowers was "wipe-out".
ReplyDeleteI have a lot to learn.
You do a great job of painting flowers. Your trumpet flowers were lovely. I have loads of wipe-outs and today was no exception. It does get me into a rhythm and the work flows better.
DeleteEnjoying this painting as I do the flower depicted. Thank you Julie, it brings back many memories to me.
ReplyDeleteHow nice of you Carol, thank you.
DeleteI admire the beautiful horse head you painted and you are so versatile because you also do beautiful trees.
Love how you get the focal point spot on every time, it is such a pleasure to see your art.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great complement Ann - bless you. I have to think of that because when I teach I am always saying, "where's your focal point."
DeleteLove your photos on your blog. You live in such a beautiful area.
You are masterful, Julie, in the use of warm and cool colors throughout your piece. Your greens always have such a creative mix of color and here in the lilacs the range of purples - both warm and cool - is astute and convincing. Lilacs bring back pleasant childhood memories as my little-kid sandbox always sat under the lilac bushes.
ReplyDeleteWow-thanks Carol... coming from a master like you.
DeleteI admit to using as many colors as I can to mix my greens as I can because I find it such a hard color to use. Thanks for noticing the warm/cool range.
Love to imagine you as a child under the shelter of the lilac bush.
Your painting of Mt. Lemmon is stunning and really captures my memories of my visit there.
Love the color and depth in this painting Julie.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Blanche. You raised an interesting question on your blog today.
DeleteIt's a real beauty, Julie.
ReplyDeleteNice of you - thanks, Egretta.
DeleteLove your painting of the autumn gourds.
Love the range of greens with the lilacs...you are so good with your colors! I have a lilac painting half finished and thanks to you I have been inspired to finish it now!!
ReplyDeleteHope you do finish it, Karen I was amazed at your wonderful strawberry dipped in chocolate.
DeleteAmazing painting, Julie...these lilacs are gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Hilda - are your computer owes solved yet?
DeleteBree is an amazing portrait. You really are marvelous at capturing the personality of your sitter.
