I never thought I would ever paint a cupcake because
I see so many great ones out there, and could not see
the ridges of the paper done in my technique.
BUT a friend challenged me to try.

I do not bake so cupcakes have to be bought.
Drum roll for Hobby Lobby...these cupcakes below
are fakes! Two in a box. Different types.
They will take the heat of the lights
and will not tempt the artists to nibble.
This cupcake looks yummy! I love the aqua blue background and works beautifully in your style. I disagree with painting a fake cupcake, the best thing would be to eat it when it's over.

Oh what a beautiful background! I so love blues and greens and together. The cupcake looks so real (who knew??) and makes me want to take a bite too. Can't decide if the real fake looks better or the painted version. I'm definitely leaning towards the painting!

ReplyDeleteWow! This is fantastic. I love the way your impasto follows the lines of the topping and cup. I also love those false cupcakes. I don't even like cup cakes, but I would eat it anyway because it was there, so this is the perfect solution. Sadly no Hobby Lobby in Canada :-(

It's all been said.......except you should know that I really could take a finger and just wipe a big chunk of that frosting right into my mouth. That speaks to both your "model" and your painting!.
