Pansy Time #8
Pansy Time #8
6x6in oil on canvas SOLD
This has been a busy painting day with other projects so I decided to do a quick study of a pansy.
Trying to keep the brushwork loose, but still giving a sense of accuracy.

This pansy has a beautiful feeling! Great job
ReplyDeleteYou achieved both accuracy and looseness.
ReplyDeleteI love your pansy series!!This one especially stood out on DPW!
ReplyDeleteThis is how I would like to be able to paint with oil one day, loose and fresh! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteI really love this one. The color scheme (blue-green and purple) is one of my favorite, and the loose brush strokes work very well, especially the ones at the lower left corner hinting foliage. Portrait type of composition in flower painting is not easy to do -- especially with just one flower, it's easily at the risk of becoming too static. However, in this one the diagonal brushworks counter-acted that and provided a more dynamic sense, and the second small bud serves to move the eye around. Beautifully done!
